Cancellations or Non-Attendance
Child psychiatrists have lengthy waiting times in Adelaide and many families are in great need of assessment and support. If you do not require your appointment please notify us so care can be provided to other vulnerable families. If you cannot attend an appointment for any reason, please telephone at least 24 hours in advance so that another person on the waiting list can have that appointment time.
If you give less than 24 hours’ notice, a cancellation fee of $100.00 will be charged. For cancellations on the day of the appointment or non-attendance, you will be charged the full cost of the missed appointment. Please note that a missed appointment fee cannot be claimed through Medicare.
What happens if I cancel late, or if I do not attend on multiple occasions?
If you cancel your appointment late or do not attend your appointment repeatedly, I may no longer be able to offer you future appointments. In this case, I will inform your general practitioner (GP) and you may explore alternative therapists to work with you with your GP. It is then your own responsibility book in/ to book your child or adolescent in to see your GP as soon as possible to discuss your care.
Dr Hart will take notes as you / your child explain your concerns. These notes will be kept safely and securely and will only be seen and used by Dr Hart. However, if Dr Hart thought you were at risk of harm, then she has an obligation to disclose the minimum amount of information necessary to ensure safety. Also, if a psychiatrist believes a child or teenager may, or has been subject to physical, sexual or emotional abuse or neglect, then she must report this to the authorities by law.
